사람에게 닥치는 운명이나
짐승에게 닥치는 운명이 같다.
같은 운명이 둘 다를 기다리고 있다.
하나가 죽듯이 다른 하나도 죽는다.
둘 다 숨을 쉬지 않고는 못 사니,
사람이라고 해서 짐승보다 나을 것이 무엇이냐?
모든 것이 헛되다.
둘 다 같은 곳으로 간다.
모두 흙에서 나와서, 흙으로 돌아간다.
전도서 3장 19절-20절
Man's fate is like that of the animals;
the same fate awaits them both:
As one dies, so dies the other.
All have the same breath;
man has no advantage over the animal.
Everything is meaningless.
All go to the same place;
all come from dust, and to dust all return.
